Pulse is a movement to keep time with the music that is not a step. This is often for time keeping and thus is rhythmic. Pulses are usually not connected directly to the connection, giving space guided by matching the music rather then completely led. This is a mechanical relaxation that then is guided by the individual or the connection to sync with the beat.

Generally there are 4 types of pulse:

  • Down Pulse
  • Up Pulse
  • Side Pulse
  • Back Pulse Down Pulses ground energy while maintaining the timing and are quite common among a plethora of dances

Side pulse is probably the most common in Fusion and is sometimes called a Hesitation.

Up pulse, characterized by its up emphasis is quite uncommon and usually done as mixed in as opposition to a down pulse.

Back Pulses are done using the natural hip rotator bend, partially isolating the straitening of the leg and hip rotator, from the vertical axis. This allows a slight amount of counterbalance while keeping the connection relatively static.
