Ground sweeps are a specific style of move where one party goes to or just above the ground while still moving. This ground movement is usually initiated by the person standing using the entire tether length of the arm to support and move the partner in either rotational or directional energy. This allows the grounded party to sweep their body along the ground usually skimming the ground hence the name. These moves are often weight sharing.
- *These moves may seem difficult but are generally safer then Aerials if a few issues of initiation are first covered:
- Vertical Relaxation
- Approaching Full Tether Length before catching the partner
- This utilizes the structure of the base’s standing body to slow down the follow right before touching the ground.
- Two peoples arms length are statistically close to the distance from shoulder to ground.
- Lowering someone towards their own center allows themselves to absorb some falling energy into their haunches.
- Support that occurs when tendons reach maximum extension as hips get close to ankles.
