fordevelopment #stefansolo Latin Dances are a large body of dances based in central America. Here we are talking from a principles and technique perspective and thus generalizing the large pool of African, Indigenous and European dance influences into the technique pool and principles behind the dances. This means we are not worrying as much about geographic or historical roots but instead describing the family of dances that use Latin Hip Action and are related to each other.

With this definition we reach a list that includes: Salsa, Bachata, Mambo, Forro, Cha Cha, Rumba, Mambo, Bolero, Timba, Merengue, Cumbia

Other dances that are related include: Samba, Zouk

These dances are also quite popular in Latin America but have become a mix of Latin dance technique as well as a second and newer wave of West African Influence. These dances end up being a meeting ground somewhere between the two categories.

Argentine Tango Is its own separate dance style and technique pool. Though a Latin Dance in geographic origin it is from a mostly unrelated dance family.
